To have access to the parallel cluster you need an account on the qwe cluster. To get this account, you should either be affiliated with the Mathematical Sciences Department at Carnegie Mellon University, or otherwise contact Florin Manolache to discuss the conditions.

The direct way to access the parallel cluster is to remotely login to asdrun, qwerun, or any of the fp1-fp10 machines. Use your username/password pair from the qwe cluster.

There are at least three alternatives ahead:

  1. Start a pvm machine;
  2. Use a MPICH to distribute processes;
  3. Look for an unloaded fp* computer and start your favorite multithreaded processes.

Be sure you read and understood the description of the architecture, the software documentation, and the policies before using the parallel cluster.
